Nyhira FM
Nhyira FM is a private radio station based in the Ashanti region.The station was formerly called Invisible FM until it was acquired by Multimedia Broadcasting Limited in 2004, and re-launched as Nhyira FM in 2005.The station employs Akan as its medium of communication. The name Nhyira itself also is an Akan word which means blessing. The station targets lower middle to upper income listeners with a mix of news, talk and a strong sports and mystery input.
It is one of the most patronised radio stations in the Ashanti Region. GeoPoll's quarterly survey puts Nhyira FM as the third radio station in the Ashanti Region with an audience share of 11.9% (Jan-March 2017). Based on the same survey, it also ranks nationwide in the Top Ten, with an audience share of 2.8%.
Nhyira FM is part of Multimedia Broadcasting Limited of which Mr Kwasi Twum, a businessman, is the majority shareholder with 92.5% shares and GBC with 7.5%. Kwesi Tsum is also the founder, CEO, and director of the group– according to the Registrar General Department’s official documents. Multimedia Broadcasting Limited was established in 1994 and is one of Ghana’s biggest private media groups, operating in radio, digital TV & Online. The Multimedia Group has six radio stations in the Ashanti Region and Greater Accra Region, six news websites and a satellite television network. In addition to Nhyira FM the group owns Joy FM, Luv FM, Asempa FM, Hitz FM, Adom FM.
