GH One
GHOne is a commercial free-to-air TV station. In the run-up to the December polls in Ghana, a survey conducted by Goodman AMC (a research consulting firm), shows that GHOne’s TV programme, State of Affairs, was the second most trusted source of information by respondents during the period.
GHOne has the seventh highest audience share with 6.5% among all TV channels in the country. Its penetration reach however, according to GeoPoll, a mobile survey platform (January – March 2017) is 72% nationwide, the seventh highest in the list of TV stations. The channel can be accessed in almost all the regions in Ghana except in the Brong Ahafo, Upper East and the Upper West regions.
GHOne television channel shows current affairs programmes, news bulletins, movies and sports programmes, reality shows and variety of entertainment programmes.
It is part of the Excellence in Broadcasting (EIB) Group Limited which operates Starr 103.5 FM, Live 91.9 FM, Kasapa 102.3 FM all in Accra; Ultimate FM (Kumasi), Agoo FM (Nkawkaw), and Empire FM (Takoradi). The group also owns The Daily Heritage Newspaper. Based on an online source (enwesgh.com) the Group is owned by Kwabena Anokye Adisi, a media mogul and broadcaster, as well as Dr. Kwabena Duffour, a businessman. However, there is no publicly available company to be found at the Registrar General.
Kwabena Anokye Adisi worked as a presenter (Top Radio), drive time host (Joy FM) and became CEO of EIB Group. Dr. Kwabena Duffour is a renowned entrepreneur and former politician. He owns a chain of businesses including Star Assurance; an insurance firm, and Unibank Ghana Limited. He was also a former Minister of Finance and Economic Planning (2008 – 2012) in the National Democratic Party government.
In 2015, the EIB Group acquired the television station maintaining its former core content of entertainment. Until this acquisition, GHOne was operated by Multiple Concept Group Limited, which is a communications group specializing in Online and Offline communication solutions, Event Management, Entertainment, Brand Activation and Digital Innovation. Multiple Concepts Group Limited is owned by Iyiola Ayoade.
