Benjamin Ephson

Benjamin Ephson, poupularly called Ben Ephson, started his journalism way back in Senior High school in Accra. As far back as 1974, he was writing for the African Magazine in London as a student. Ben Ephson is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Dispatch newspaper.

He is a renowned pollster who learned his polling skills while studying Foreign Policy at the University of Maryland, USA. Ben Ephson’s practice in journalism was not limited to the corridors of Ghana, he also reported for BBC and Agence France Presse as a correspondent. He suffered many perils in pursuit of journalism including several arrests and incarceration by the governments of General Ignatius Kutu Acheampong and Flight Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings.

During elections in Ghana, Ben is probably the most sought-after pollster in Ghana, because of the accuracy with which he predicts elections. However, in the December 2017 elections that saw Nana Akuffo Addo become president, Ben predicted victory for then ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) with 52.4 percent of the votes while his main rival Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would get 45.9 percent.
