Bellaart Investments B.V. (Besloten Vennootschap - Private Company) holds three companies that are all based in The Netherlands, just as the investment company itself.  Besides Genisys Holding B.V., two  companies that operate on the online market are listed: GhanaWeb B.V. and AfricaWeb Publishing B.V. Both are connected to Ghana’s most popular news website (based on Alexa rankings), GhanaWeb.com. Initially, the homepage was created by Francis Akoto in 1992 to be a platform for Ghanaians who are living abroad. In the course of time it changed its name from GhanaHomePage.com to the current name. Ever since this change was conducted, Robert Bellaart is playing a key role. He is host, web developer and the owner of the company that runs GhanaWeb.com.

GhanaWeb B.V.’s official company profile, available at the Dutch companies’ register, lists the instigation of GhanaWeb.com as one of their activities. AfricaWeb Publishing B.V. appears as contact on GhanaWeb.com. Which of the two companies is eventually responsible for the operation of the website, could not be established.  AfricaWeb Publishing B.V. is a new player as it was only registered in January 2017, while GhanaWeb B.V. operates since 1993. The platform itself went online in year 1999. The owner of Bellaart Investments B.V. is the aforementioned Robert Bellaart. Information about the owner is scarce but according to his LinkediN Profile, he is a software engineer and with this background founder, creator and webmaster of GhanaWeb.com. He developed and supervised technical weboperations and the team of editors. Today, he operates as a delegated director.  

Based on  the Dutch companies’ register, all his companies except Genysis Holding B.V. are registered to the same address in Amsterdam. More than one hundred other companies operate from that address.
