MyJoyOnline is a commercial portal that was launched in 1996. It was the first Ghana-based news website streaming live radio. It streams content from MultiTV World as well as streaming content from all the radio stations of the Multimedia Group Limited, to which it belongs.
According to Alexa, it is ranked 11th amongst the Top Sites in Ghana – while it is the third most popular news websites. In a survey by Goodman AMC, MyJoyOnline was mentioned as a media news source among the top seven online influencers that Ghanaians would trust to provide first-hand and reliable information in the 2016 presidential election. The online platform held a trust percentage of 27% and ranked second among online platforms in the country.
MyJoyOnline is part of the Multimedia Broadcasting Limited, one of Ghana’s biggest private media groups that covers radio, digital TV & Online. Multimedia Broadcasting Limited was established in 1994 and rolled out considerably since then, now operating under the name Multimedia Group Limited. It now has six radio stations in the Ashanti Region and Greater Accra Region, six news websites and a satellite television network. In addition to myjoyonline, it runs five other websites.
George Kwesi Twum is a businessman, the majority shareholder as well as founder, CEO, and director of Multimedia Broadcasting Limited. He owns 92.5% shares of the company and GBC, represented by David Anaglate also owns 7.5% shares – according to the Registrar General's Department.
